ADF partners international military hardware expo and airshow

Military engineering hardware will be at the centre of February's aerospace defence and expo."

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) announced this week that it will put on a demonstration at next year's Australian International Airshow and Defence Exposition, which will be held at Victoria's Avalon Airport between February 24 and March 1.

A recent Department of Defence media release said the demo will showcase "a wide range of contemporary Air Force, Navy and Army aircraft, along with a number of static ground displays".

The ADF says it is proud to once again be a part of the expo - a key calendar event for discussing the best innovations in military hardware.

Air Vice-Marshal Mel Hupfeld said the show will also be a testament to past servicemen, particularly as we mark the 100-year anniversary of World War I.

"Since 1914, the ADF has operated more than 200 different types of military aircraft. We are proud of the courageous military air and ground crews of the past who maintained and operated these wonderful aircraft. Their service and sacrifice continue to inspire the men and women of today's Defence Force," Mr Hupfeld explained while representing the Chief of Air Force at the event's media launch.

A wide range of vehicles will be on show at the expo, where trade professionals can get a closer look at the technology that goes into producing the very best military hardware.

Some of these aircraft will include:

  • F/A-18F Super Hornet multi-role fighter;
  • C-17A Globemaster III heavy airlift aircraft;
  • E-7A Wedgetail;
  • KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport aircraft;
  • AS350 Squirrel training helicopters;
  • MRH-90 Taipan maritime utility helicopter;
  • MHR-60R 'Romeo' maritime combat helicopter;
  • Bell UHB-1 Iroquois Navy Historic Flight helicopter;
  • ARH Tiger helicopter;
  • M1A1 Abrams tank;
  • M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier.

The Air Force's elite Roulettes formation aerobatic team will be present, and the ADF will showcase major ground displays, including the Air Force Band, the Federation Guard, military working dogs, an explosive ordnance display, an engineering display and a mock up of the F-35A Lightning II.

The event is also a knwoledge hub for demonstrating some of the hardware that will take aerospace engineering into the next generation.
